Dan and Dina Family Cropped

Global Workers, Dan and Dina
serve in ex-Soviet Central Asia, along with their two sons and twin daughters. They run a coffee house - that your gifts to Global Outreach helped buy.  They teach English courses to 380 college students in classrooms next door. After class the coffee house is a relational place for the students to ask questions and have conversations about the deepest issues of life.

Nine Casas Bible Fellowships have sent their members to serve there.

Coffee House Story
Her mom and sister were followers of Jesus through coffee house - but she herself resisted.  Then her life changed when she prayed for God to reveal himself to her.  That night she had a dream that she was on a playground surrounded with walls guarded by angels.  Her mom and sister were on the other side and she asked the angels why her family could not see or hear her.  The angel replied, "You are dead, and because you did not receive Jesus you are forever separated from your family." She woke up crying and in a sweat.  She ran to her mother's room and told her what happened and that she needed to accept Jesus. That night she became a follower, and it took 3 years for her faith to grow to fully understand what that meant.

Global Workers, Ben and Jayne became part of the F5 Refresh and DIVE Bible Fellowships while Ben was studying Anthropology at the U of A. Their ABFs sent them out to  serve an isolated Amazon tribe.  In the Amazon, police rescued a baby girl from baby traffickers, and Ben and Jayne adopted her - their new daughter, Emily!  Now they:

  • Honor the tribal people's culture;
  • Care for their medical needs;
  • Organize emergency medical evacuations - which take 3 days on a boat powered by a lawnmower engine;
  • Teach the people to read their own language for the first time.

Doug and Cheryl Family 2010

Global Workers, Doug and Cheryl
first came to Casas with their young family while Doug attended the U of A Medical School.  Now their family has grown and they have two college and two high school children.  They lead teams of Casas doctors and nurses into remote villages of Thailand to offer one-day mobile clinics and help plant new churches for those who follow Christ. To move these medical teams around the country they rely on their 15-year old minivan "ambulance" with 237,000 miles on it.

Clinic story:
At one of their clinics a patient said, "I am the only follower of Jesus in my village. For 10 years I have been praying for God to send someone. You are the answer to my prayer!"  Then the team led her neighbor to follow Jesus and they started a church in her village!

Bryan and Diane

Global Worker Bryan came to Casas as a high school son of a single mom. Later Casas sent him to Africa as a Global Worker pilot where he met his British wife Diane who was serving as a nurse. Now they have three young children.  Every year they reach beyond swamps and primitive roads to fly in 2,000 global workers and fly out local people needing medical care.

On one recent trip the tribal leaders told the global workers, "We have never heard this story before."  Parents from two ABFs and their teens helped Bryan build one side of the hangar in September - and your gifts to Global Outreach bought the materials!

Janelle
Casas Global Worker, Janelle teaches children in a one-room schoolhouse in an impoverished town that just got its first paved road and first electric lines. The young couples on Janelle's team are:

  • Providing the first medical care that women in their town have ever had;
  • Helping the town generate its own power through renewable energy projects (wind turbines and hydroelectric);
  • Providing physical therapy and classes for disabled children who would otherwise be treated like pets and shunned.

Only because Janelle is giving of herself to teach their children are these couples able to live and serve there. As the townspeople feel Christ's love through her team, they are asking about this amazing Jesus who moved them to come.

EGP Inside Studio

Casas Global Workers, Ed and Grace
started a recording studio in the Middle East, with our gifts to Global Outreach. Now they record dramas with professional actors in styles sensitive to the local culture which are listened to on the Internet, ipods, and cell phones.  As a result, 500 churches have started in the Middle East using their materials.
