Casas Global Outreach

Policy for Global Worker-In-Residence Program

The following policies have been adopted to achieve the purpose of the Worker-in-Residence program in a way that benefits both the ch*rch and the Global Worker-in-Residence.

Purpose of Global Worker-in-Residence Program:

Casas does not just have a house; rather it has a Global Worker-In-Residence program. The purpose of this program is to help the people of Casas grow spiritually by interacting with Global Workers-In-Residence who are making Casas their ch*rch home for a specified period of time. Casas has made an investment in this program over the years to strengthen its relationship with global workers. The program provides the Worker-In-Residence a comfortable, affordable housing arrangement and a spiritually renewing experience as they become part of this exceptional community of followers.

Policies:

Requirements

1.       The Global Workers-in-Residence will be workers on home assignment who intend to return to their overseas assignments following their home assignment.

2.       The Global Workers-in-Residence will make Casas their home ch*rch while on home assignment. This will include getting involved with the people of Casas and the activities of the ch*rch. It is understood that certain responsibilities of representing their work will take residents away from time to time.

3.       The applicant's Sending Agency must be approved by Casas.

Priority Given to

1.   Those who are Casas global workers or global partners

2.   Those who have a strategy that fits Casas outreach values (part of a team planting ch*rches among the least-reached people groups)

3.   Those who have developed a relationship with Casas

Length of Residence:

1.       Neither the Worker-in-Residence Program nor the Casas House are available for brief periods of stay.

2.       As a general rule, the term of occupancy will be from 4-12 months.

Application Processing:

1.       Applications can be made anytime but selection of Global Workers-in-Residence will not be automatically made on a first-come, first-served basis. There is no waiting list or reservation system ranked by date of request.

2.       Applications should be made at least six months prior to beginning of home assignment.

3.       Applications will not be processed earlier than one year prior to beginning of home assignment.

4.   Approved applicants will sign the Worker-in-Residence Agreement.

Casas’ Expectations of the Global Workers-in-Residence

1.             The Global Workers-in-Residence are expected to participate in Casas as their ch*rch home.

2.      The Global Outreach Team will work with the Global Workers-in-Residence regarding the schedule of events on the ch*rch calendar, their participation with outreach events, and any other commitments they may have.

3.      The workers are expected to participate in Casas’ annual outreach awareness events, which will next be celebrated in early February 2006.

Guidelines For Use of the Casas House

Some Global Workers-in-Residence may be housed in other facilities (see descriptions below), but the following guidelines are for those workers placed in the Casas House. Casas provides this home as one way the ch*rch can be involved in global outreach as it blesses and enfolds global workers into its family. The home has three bedrooms, two baths, a family room, a walled yard, and a two-car garage. It is located 3 miles (6 minutes) from the ch*rch on a quiet hillside acre overlooking a valley in the  Amphitheater School District. It was completely remodeled and updated through donations and volunteer work by the Casas family in 2000.

The following guidelines and Housing Agreement are designed to enable to the ch*rch to properly manage the Casas House. Casas wishes to be flexible with each worker's unique needs and will be happy to discuss special considerations which may arise. There is a separate Housing Agreement which must be signed detailing all the arrangements, but a few are summarized below.

1.      Casas provides the home at a reduced rental rate. The rate charged covers the costs incurred in maintenance, insurance, taxes, and pest control and thus enables this to be a self-sustaining m*n*stry. This charge is currently approximately $400 per month. There is also a $400 cleaning deposit required.

2.      The Global Workers-in-Residence will also be responsible for their own utilities, which include gas, electric, water, garbage, telephone service, and cable. The ch*rch will initially pay for the utilities and then send the Worker an itemized bill. The average charge for utilities is approximately $175 per month using evaporative cooling, and $250 per month using air conditioning.

3.      Casas does not provide a vehicle nor furnish transportation.

4.      The home is fully decorated and furnished. Respectful behavior regarding the property is expected. The Worker-in-Residence is responsible for at-fault breakage which is not covered by insurance or is not considered normal wear and tear.

5.      The Workers-in-Residence are responsible for general maintenance and watering of the yard. Casas requests that each Worker provide small maintenance repairs on the house if they are able to do so.

6.      It is expected that the house will be left clean and in as good or better condition than upon arrival.

7.      Casas provides a Housing Coordinator as a liaison between the Global Workers-in-Residence and the ch*rch. The Housing Coordinator should be contacted first if questions or problems arise.

Guidelines For Use of Two Bedroom Guest House

Some Global Workers-in-Residence may be housed in the Casas House (see description above) or efficiency guest house (see description below), but the following guidelines are for those workers placed in the two bedroom guest house. A Casas family provides this guest house and the ch*rch manages it as one way to be involved in global outreach by blessing and enfolding global workers into the ch*rch family. The Guest House is a standalone home on a 40-acre property owned by some of our ch*rch members near their main home. It is near Cortaro Farms Road west of I-10, just beyond where the suburban subdivisions and Wal-Mart and McDonald’s end and where the rural/country area begins. It is about 9 miles and 15 minutes drive from the ch*rch and is in the Marana School District.

This two bedroom guest house is approximately 750 square foot and has two bedrooms, nice kitchen, small living room, large handicapped equipped bathroom, and an enclosed back porch with a utility closet with washer and dryer. It has a wall heater and evaporative cooling. It does not have a telephone line; other residents have chosen to use a cell phone. It is not luxurious but it is cozy, clean, comfortable, peaceful, and quiet.

The following guidelines and Housing Agreement are designed to enable to the ch*rch to properly manage the Guest House. Casas wishes to be flexible with each worker's unique needs and will be happy to discuss special considerations which may arise. There is a separate Housing Agreement which must be signed detailing all the arrangements, but a few are summarized below.

1.      Casas provides the Guest House at a reduced rental rate. The rate charged covers the costs incurred in utilities, and maintenance and thus enables this to be a self-sustaining m*n*stry. This charge is currently approximately $200 per month. There is also a $200 cleaning deposit required.

2.      Casas does not provide a vehicle nor furnish transportation.

3.      The Guest House is furnished. Respectful behavior regarding the property is expected. The Worker-in-Residence is responsible for at-fault breakage which is not covered by insurance or is not considered normal wear and tear.

4.      The Workers-in-Residence are responsible for general upkeep. Casas requests that each Worker provide small maintenance repairs on the Guest House if they are able to do so.

5.      It is expected that the Guest House will be left clean and in as good condition as it was upon arrival.

6.      Casas provides a Housing Coordinator as a liaison between the Global Workers-in-Residence and the ch*rch. The Housing Coordinator should be contacted first if questions or problems arise.

It is about 9 miles and 15 minutes drive from the ch*rch. It is appropriate for a couple or single.

This “efficiency” guest house is approximately 300 square foot and does not have a separate bedroom with walls and doors that separate it from the rest of the unit. It has a bedroom area, kitchen area, living area with a fireplace, bathroom, lots of upper storage cabinets, and an enclosed back porch with closet, washer, and dryer. It has a wall heater and evaporative cooling. It does not have a telephone line; other residents have chosen to use a cell phone.
