Steps for Preparing for a

2007 Casas-Led Short-Term Trip

 

 

  1. Fill out an application (or update) and ask your references to send in their pages to Global Outreach.

  2. Receive your acceptance letter (by email or phone).

  3. Do the Orientation and Finance Training online.

Congratulations! You have reached MILE POST 1:  You receive your acceptance letter!

 

  1. Write your support letter and have your Trip Leader approve it. (Mention the deadline for your plane ticket funds [state the amount] and the deadline for the remainder of your donated funds. Also mention who to write the checks to [Casas] and and who to give them to [you]). Remember that you are raising team funds. After approved, provide your Trip Leader with a final copy of your letter.

  2. Give your Trip Leader the names of the people on your address list (so the Trip Leader can ensure that no one is getting flooded with individual letters and can instead send a team letter to the appropriate people).

  3. Send out your support letters to your approved list.

  4. Apply for your passport or renew your passport, if needed. (Passport must be good for 6 months after you return to the US.)

  5. Do the Cross-Cultural Training online and discuss as a team.

  6. Enlist at least 10 prayer supporters as well as emotional, logistical, communications, re-entry supporters.

  7. Schedule the date for your inoculations.

  8. Do the Health and Safety Training online and discuss as a team.

  9. Do the Ministry Skills Training online and discuss as a team.

  10. Turn in your funds for your plane ticket by the deadline date (get this date from your team leader - no later than 35 days before trip).

Congratulations! You have reached MILEPOST 2:  Your team leader buys your plane ticket!

 

  1. Prepare individually through prayer and journaling and prepare as a team through team meetings.

  2. Get any needed vaccinations.

  3. Sign Liability Release Forms.

  4. Turn in your last donated funds (13 days before trip).

  5. Prepare to travel healthy and smart (see trip links).

  6. Be commissioned by your Bible Fellowship, perhaps the Sunday before your trip.
